South Fork Joe Creek
Tulsa, Oklahoma often has a flooding issue throughout the city when it rains. This is due in part to the amount of paving and roofing in this high-density community that allows for fast runoff in storm events.
Many of the small creeks have grown through time into raging rivers. One such creek is the South Fork of Joe Creek, which flows through a beautiful residential neighborhood. The City of Tulsa chose Redi-Rock retaining wall blocks to line both banks of the creek. Utilizing 41” limestone-textured block with various setback, from 16” setback to normal batter angle, creates a unique design. The 16” setback also allows a better possibly of self-rescue if anyone ever fell into the fast-moving waters.
